Busy day for city police

On 10/29/2015 Cumberland City Police officers served an arrest warrant on a Hagerstown man for theft related charges.  The charges stem from an October 25, 2015 investigation initiated by the Cumberland City Police.  On that date officers responded to an E. Roberts Street residence for a report of stolen items taken from an outbuilding on the property.  The victim told police that they were aware of who took the property and produced evidence to police supporting their claims.  Officers completed the investigation and were able to identify Gregory Allen Rice Sr., 44 as the suspect in this case.  An arrest warrant was obtained based on the information established during the investigation and Rice has been charged with the following:

Theft: Less than $1000.00 – 1 count.

Rice was arrested and transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters for processing.  Rice was transported to the Allegany County District Court for a preliminary hearing and later released on his personal recognizance pending trial.

 

 

WARRANT ARREST

   On 10/29/2015 Cumberland City Police officers served an arrest warrant on a Cumberland man for failing to appear for trial in September 2015 on Disorderly Conduct charges.  Joseph William Wood, 36, of Cumberland was arrested and processed for the warrant charging him with the following:

Failure to Appear – 1 count

Wood was transported to the Allegany County District Court for a preliminary hearing.  He was released on his personal recognizance pending trial. 

 

ASSAULT ARREST

    On 10/20/2015 just after midnight, Cumberland Police Officers responded to a Maryland Avenue residence for a report of an assault in progress.  Dispatchers received reports from neighboring residences that a victim was being drug down the street by their hair and the suspect was banging the victim’s head on the ground. 

Officers arrived at the residence and located both subjects involved and initiated an investigation into this incident.  Officers were able to interview the victim and witnesses at the scene who identified the suspect as John Christopher Larrick, 33, of Cumberland. 

Larrick was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to Cumberland City Police Headquarters where he was charged with the following:

Assault 2nd Degree – 1 count

Disorderly Conduct – 1 count

Larrick was processed for the above listed charges and taken to the Allegany County District Court for a preliminary hearing before a court commissioner.  Larrick was released on his own recognizance. 

Although injured, the victim in this case did not require medical attention at the time of this investigation. 

 

WARRANT ARREST

    On 10/30/2015 during the early morning hours, Cumberland City Police officers on routine patrol checked a suspicious vehicle parked in the area of Columbia Avenue and Franklin Streets.  Officers contacted  several occupants inside the vehicle and found one occupant to be wanted on three outstanding warrants.  As a result of this investigation, Regina Renee Moreland, 43, of Clearville Pennsylvania was placed under arrest.  Moreland was transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters where she was processed for the following warrants and charges:

Failure to Appear in Circuit Court – Violation of Probation hearing August 2015

Failure to Appear in District Court – Traffic Charges October 2015

Failure to Appear in District Court – CDS: Not Marijuana Charges October 2015

Moreland was processed for the three warrants and taken before a commissioner at the Allegany County District Court for a preliminary hearing.  Moreland was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center and held without bond.
