Theft

On Sunday, October 26, 2014 at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to Martin’s Market on Park Street in reference to a shoplifter.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a store representative who stated that a subject in the store was observed stealing an item.  This subject, Thomas Edward House Jr was contacted and the stolen item was located in his possession.  House was issued a criminal citation charging him with theft and was released from the scene pending his trial at District Court.

Arrested:

Thomas Edward House Jr – age 37 – Ridgeley, WV

Charge:

Theft less than $100.00

 

 

Theft

On Sunday, October 26, 2014 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Cumberland Police department responded to Martin’s Market on Park Street in reference to a shoplifter.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a store representative who stated that a subject was in the men’s restroom opening DVD’s from their cases and stealing the DVD’s.  As the officer approached the restroom the suspect was observed at which time he was stopped.  Several open DVD cases were in the suspect’s possession.  A search of the suspect lead to the DVD’s being located in his pants pocket.  The suspect, Troy William Olinger Jr was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Olinger was then issued a criminal citation charging him with theft and was released pending his trial at District Court.

Charge:

Theft less than $100.00

 

Domestic Assault

On Sunday, October 26, 2014 at approximately 11:40 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence located in the 1000 block of Lexington Avenue in reference to a domestic assault.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a male victim who stated that he was assaulted by Joshua Newton.  The victim stated that Newton threw a glass cologne bottle at him and it struck him in the face.  Officers observed that the victim had a minor cut on his face from being struck with the cologne bottle.  Newton was contacted and placed under arrest.  Newton was later taken to District Court for his initial appearance and was released on his personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

Charge:

Second degree assault
