On December 30, 2015 Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Kevin Hayes Knight, age 22 of Cumberland, Maryland. On December 8, 2015 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Sheetz on Virginia Avenue for a shoplifting complaint. Upon the officers arrival they were contacted by a store employee who said she witnessed a male subject shoplifting. The male subject was observed by the employee placing store merchandise inside his sweatshirt pocket and leaving without paying for the merchandise. The suspect was not located on this date but was identified after he returned to the store a day later. As a result of this incident, charges were filed at District Court resulting in a criminal summons being issued. Knight was served with the summons and released pending a trial date in District Court.
