Police Handle Theft, Burglary Cases

Theft, Less than $100

On Tuesday, December 29, 2015 officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to Martin’s Food Market, Park St, Cumberland for a report of two shoplifters. The suspects, identified as Brianna Goetz, 21 years old, and Nicole Busch, 31 years old, both of Cumberland, consumed various food items inside the store and then attempted to leave without paying for these items.  They were detained by Martin’s staff until the police arrived. 

Goetz and Busch were arrested and transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters.  Once at Police Headquarters they were each issued Criminal Citations for Theft Less than $100 and released.

Burglary, Malicious Destruction of Property

On Tuesday, December 29, 2015 the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Leonardo Hart, 21 years old, of Cumberland.  The charges, Burglary 1st Degree, Burglary 4th Degree, Theft Less than $1000, and Malicious Destruction of Property, stemmed from an incident that occurred at a residence on Columbia St, Cumberland, MD on December 12, 2015. 

When the Cumberland Police arrived on scene, the victim advised that several items had been stolen from the apartment.  The front door was damaged where the suspects had forcibly entered the residence.  Based on evidence gathered on the scene and witness interviews, the Police were able to identify Hart, along with another male as the suspects in this case and charges were filed.

Burglary 1st Degree, Burglary 4th Degree, Theft less Than $1,000, Malicious Destruction of Property.

 

Theft, Less than $100

On Tuesday, December 29, 2015 the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons for Theft Less than $100 on Leonardo Hart, 21 years old, of Cumberland.  The charges stemmed from a shoplifting incident that occurred at Martin’s Food Market, Park St, Cumberland on December 10, 2015. 

Hart was seen entering the restroom carrying several items.  He was later seen exiting the restroom without these items.  When employees checked the restroom they found open packaging consistent with the items that he had originally carried in.  The investigating officer recognized Hart due to past interaction.  He was charged with the theft.
