Criminal Summons Served
On February 25, 2015 the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Matthew Ryan Thomas. The summons charges Thomas with 2nd Degree Assault, Affray, and Disorderly Conduct.

Assault Arrest
On February 25, 2015 the Cumberland Police Department responded to an apartment building in the 300 block of Baltimore Avenue for an assault that just occurred involving a rifle. Investigation revealed an altercation between neighbors had taken place in the male victim’s apartment. It was determined Eric Edward Plummer had gone to his neighbor’s apartment over an ongoing problem and was allowed into the apartment by the victim. Once inside, Plummer pulled out a rifle he had concealed under his arm and aimed it at the victim while making threats. During the altercation Plummer struck the victim with the barrel of the rifle, causing an injury to the face of the victim. Other people on the scene were able to separate the two and Plummer returned to his apartment where he was contacted by police. The Cumberland Fire Department responded and transported the victim to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Plummer was arrested for 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Firearm Use/Fel-Viol. Crime, and Rifle/Shotgun Poss-Ment. Dis. He is currently awaiting bond review before a District Court Commissioner.
