Police Make Arrest on Domestic Assault Call

On Wednesday, officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 416 Bedford Street for a domestic assault.  Upon the officer’s arrival, contact was made with a female witness.  Officers were advised that a female resident was assaulted by Demond Arthur Scott.  As officers entered the residence they observed the victim holding a white t-shirt to the left side of her head.  The t-shirt was soaked in blood as well as the victim’s hair.  While speaking with the victim officers learned that she returned home when she was questioned by Scott about where she had been.  During an argument, Scott held the victim down on the bed and began to strike her in the face and head.  Officers on the scene noted lacerations on the victim’s head which needed medical attention.  The victim was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment.  Scott was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department.  Scott was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.   Scott was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $25,000.
