Police Make Burglary & Malicious Burning Arrests

July 11th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

At approximately 0137 hours officers from the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to a Maryland Avenue property for a report of candle burning in an abandoned property.   Officers arrived and found smoke coming from the rear of the residence. Officers entered the building locating three male subjects inside. The subjects were brought out of the residence and detained pending further investigation.  The Cumberland Fire Department was called and extinguished the fire. Officers discovered that one of the males had been removing ceiling tiles from inside and burning them near the rear of the structure. Officers made contact with the owner of the property and determined that no one was to be inside the building.  All three subjects were taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. They were later taken before the District Court Commissioner where they were all held on a $5,000.00 bond.
