Police Make DUI Arrest

On Sunday, March 12, 2017 at approximately 4:11 a.m. an officer from the Cumberland Police department was on patrol in the area of N. Centre Street. The officer observed the vehicle traveling in front of his marked patrol unit commit numerous traffic violations. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the operator, Tyron Waller.  While speaking with Waller the officer detected several indicators of alcohol impairment and asked Waller to participate in a series of standardized field sobriety tests.

Based upon the testing and his observations, the officer attempted to place Waller under arrest; however he began to struggle with the officer.   He was eventually placed under arrest with assistance from other officers who had responded to the traffic stop scene. Waller was transported to the police station for charges and processing.  He was later taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on his personal recognizance pending his next court appearance.

 

Arrested: 

Tyron Waller, age 26, Cumberland, MD

Traffic charges:  Driving while impaired by alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol per se.

Criminal charges:  Disorderly conduct, resisting arrest.
