New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks

The Cumberland Police Department would like to announce the following streets closures that will take place for the annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks display which will be held in the downtown area on Thursday, December 31, 2015.  Baltimore Street between Greene and Mechanic Streets will be closed at 10:00 p.m. in preparation for the fireworks display which will take place on the Baltimore Street Bridge at midnight.  No vehicular or pedestrian traffic will be allowed in this area due to safety precautions.  All vehicles and pedestrians should use Cumberland Street to Market Street as a detour from the west side of the city.  Any motorists traveling south on Mechanic Street, in order to reach the west side of the city, will have to use I-68 west which can be accessed off of Harrison Street.  Liberty Street will be closed at 10:30 p.m. in preparation for the entertainment on the mall and the ball drop.
