Police Respond to Assault Complaint; Make DUI Arrest

On July 15, 2018, the Cumberland City Police responded to a Bond St. residence for a reported assault. Once on scene, officers contacted the victim of the alleged assault. The victim advised officers that they had been involved in an argument with Amanda Ann Clair earlier in the evening. The argument then turned physical and Clair attacked the victim, causing visible injuries. Clair had left the scene prior to officer’s arrival on scene. Later in the evening, officers again responded to the residence for another reported disturbance. Once on scene, officers contacted the victim and located Clair who was also operating a motor vehicle at the time. Clair was also found to be under the influence of alcohol at this time. Due to the victim’s earlier statements and the visible signs of injuries, Clair was placed under arrest and transported to the station. She was taken before the District Court Commissioner for her initial appearance where she was released on his personal recognizance pending trial in District Court. Clair also received Traffic Citations for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Charges: Assault 2nd Degree, Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving while impaired by alcohol
