Police respond to domestic disturbance, arrest wanted man

On Tuesday, September 8th, 2020 the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Harding Avenue residence for the report of a male violating a protective order.  When officers arrived, they observed the male in question who was identified as Antonio Maurice Smith.  Officer knew that Smith had an active arrest warrant for violating the protective order the day before.  Upon seeing officers, Smith attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended on the open warrant.  Once he was in custody, Smith became uncooperative causing a disturbance and resisting officers’ attempts to place him in a transport vehicle.  He was served the warrant and charged additionally for another violation of a protective order, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.  He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.
