Police Serve Fugitive Warrant; Make Arrest After Chase

On Wednesday, April 1st, 2020 the Cumberland Police Department attempted to serve a fugitive warrant out of West Virginia on Jonathon Lee Emerick.  When officers approached Emerick in the area of George Street, he fled on foot and assaulted an officer.  Officers gave chase and were able to apprehend him a short time later.  He was charged with resisting arrest, assault, obstructing and hindering, and disorderly conduct.  Emerick had a bond review before the District Court Commissioner and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.

    Emerick, suffering from a sinus infection, sneezed in the direction of officers. He was charged with aggravated battery and discharge of a deadly weapon.
