Possible Federal Money To Assist With Local Coal Industry Discussed At GCC Meeting

Last year six states were designated to receive federal money to help boost the coal industry however Maryland fell just short.  Coal has been a buzz word of the Trump administration and just recently West Virginia Governor Jim Justice has proposed using around $4.5 billion in federal funds every year to pay Eastern power plants to burn coal from states in the Appalachia region.  Allegany County Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr said a recent meeting with the Greater Cumberland Committee featured discussions on possible federal dollars coming to western Maryland to assist with the local coal industry…
