The Cumberland Times News reports restructuring by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services is underway with the changes potentially leaving six employees at area prisons without jobs. The letter, dated Aug. 24, said restructuring plans for the Western Correctional Institute  and the North Branch Correctional Institution, both in Cresaptown, would result in “eliminating six current human resources employees at those facilities and replace the existing structure with a three employee ‘hub’ with physical offices within the prison facility also being relocated.” The letter, signed by Sen. George Edwards and delegates Beitzel, McKay and Buckel, asked that three of the six employees, who are eligible for retirement, be extended “early retirement incentives extended to other state employees earlier in 2015.
