Pre-K proposal

October 17th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

Delegate Heather Mizeur says she wants to make public pre-kindergarten open to all 4-year-old children, as well as 3-year-olds from lower- and middle-class families.

Mizeur, who is running for the Democratic nomination for governor, outlined her education policy proposals Thursday.

She is planning to make changes to public pre-kindergarten by the end of her first term.

According to Mizeur, she would update and expand the current child care subsidy program to provide better access through increased voucher value. The Montgomery County Democrat also says she wants to provide after school and summer programs for an additional 44,000 children.
