Prices at the Pump Falling in Cumberland

April 17th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

Local drivers saw another week of slight drops in prices at the pump this week. Frederick saw the biggest decrease of three cents, while Annapolis and Hagerstown saw prices dip two cents week over week.  The majority of the state saw a one cent drop, as the national average remained flat. According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), total domestic gasoline stocks increased last week, helping to minimize pump price increases as demand for gasoline increased. Continued growth in total domestic gasoline supply will likely help to keep pump prices in check through this weekend.

Today’s national gas price average is $2.86, unchanged in the last week, down a penny in the last month, and up $1.03 from this time last year.

The gas price average in Maryland today is $2.75, down respectively one cent from last week, nine cents in the last month, and up 81 cents from this date last year.

The national gas average has not hit $3 since October 31, 2014. The next closest date was in May 25, 2018 at $2.96. Maryland’s gas average has not hit $3 since October 26, 2014.
