Public Hearing on Gas Rates set

July 19th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Public Service Commission will conduct a public hearing in Cumberland this evening at the Ramada Inn. Columbia Gas of Maryland is proposing to raise its rates by about $6 million. The request would increase monthly rates by about $10.26, according to the PSC. According to Columbia's application, the need for the increase "arises principally from the company's continued increased investment in the replacement of leak-prone pipeline infrastructure, increased operation and maintenance expenses, and the company's need for a reasonable opportunity to earn a fair and reasonable return on its investment in utility facilities."
