Public Service Commission To Hold Hearing In Cumberland On Columbia Gas Rate Hike Proposal

July 5th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold two public hearings related to the application of Columbia Gas of Maryland, Inc. for a $6.5 million increase in its base rates. Columbia provides gas distribution services to about 33,000 customers in Maryland. Under the rates as proposed, the total bill for a typical residential customer would increase more than 21 percent. According to the company, the rate increase request arises from Columbia’s investments in its pipeline infrastructure and increased operating and maintenance expenses.

The case filings are available in the electronic docket file (Case No. 9417) which may be viewed or downloaded at www.psc.state.md.us.
