Railroad crossing to be closed for repairs

October 23rd, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The City of Cumberland Engineering Department on behalf of CSX would like to notify the public that beginning Monday October 28, the Baltimore Street/ Baltimore Avenue Railroad crossing will be closed to allow for crossing improvements.  This closure will be in effect for 6 weeks weather pending.  The detour routes for this closure will be West bound Queen City Drive to Knox Street, East Bound Queen City Drive to I-68 E and West bound RT 40 (Henderson Ave) to I-68 West Bound.  CSX and The City apologize for any inconvenience this closure will cause, however the new crossing will provide a better travel way for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.  During the closure pedestrians will be able to use the underpass, however handicapped travelers will have to use the John J. McMullen Bridge over Queen City Drive and Henderson Ave.
