Residential Housing proposed at site of former Memorial Hospital

There has been much debate and speculation about the best use for the site that formerly housed the Memorial Hospital facilities, but indications this week points to a preference for residential housing. During a Tuesday meeting, Cumberland City Administrator Jeff Rhodes suggested to the mayor and city council that single-family residential housing may be the best direction in which to move with regards to the city owned property. He emphasized that subsidized housing at the site is not what the city envisioned, saying that his concept would see market-rate, owner-occupied housing…
