On Sunday, March 13, 2016 Officers responded to a Washington Street residence for a reported Assault. Upon their arrival they contacted the victim, who sustained a significant injury to her eye. She stated she and her husband had been in an argument and he struck her in the face several times. The Cumberland Fire Department responded and transported the victim to the Western Maryland Health System. The suspect, Francis Daniel Jackson, was still on the scene and was placed under arrest for the assault. Jackson was transported to the Cumberland Police Department where he was processed and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office. Jackson was then released on his personal recognizance pending his trial in Allegany County District Court.
