July 5th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources tweeted early Saturday afternoon that the Day Use area of Rocky Gap State Park had reached its capacity, and that no more vehicles were being permitted.

About a half dozen other Maryland State Parks also had to cap visitors due to restrictions tied to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maryland Natural Resources Police investigated a boating accident Saturday afternoon on Deep Creek Lake.

Eyewitnesses say that a pontoon boat capsized and that five people were transported to local hospitals.

Circumstances surrounding the mishap are unknown at this time, but the lake was said to be heavily used during this weekend.
