Romney man in ICU following four-wheeler crash

The Cumberland Times News reports a 46-year-old maintenance worker for the City of Romney was seriously injured Saturday when his four-wheeler rolled and landed on top of him. Edward H. “Sonny” Lewis of Community Knolls, Romney, flipped his four-wheeler while riding in the woods off River Road.  Lewis ruptured his spleen, fractured five ribs and bruised a lung, said his wife Dawn. Mrs. Lewis said her husband was able to crawl to the phone and call 911. Lewis was flown from the site to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland, Md., by Maryland State Police Trooper 5 helicopter. “The accident happened late in the afternoon,” said West Virginia State Trooper First Class Berkey. Tuesday, Lewis remained as a patient in the hospital’s intensive care unit. He has been given two units of blood. Romney Volunteer Rescue and Romney Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident.
