Allegany County Board of Education President Ed Root blasted the county commissioners this week for failing to adequately fund the education budget. The board had been seeking an additional $1.8 million above last years allocation, but will receive a hike of just over $320,000- that being the result of the county being tied to the maintenance of effort formula. Root said that he understands that the county has its own fiscal challenges- however short changing education is not the way to go…
