Maryland Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford has announced that he will not be a candidate for governor in next year's election.
"After months of careful reflection and consideration, I have decided not to run to become the next Governor of Maryland in 2022. This was a decision that I made with my family's best interest in mind," said Rutherford in a statement.
Governor Larry Hogan will not be eligible for reelection because of Maryland state law limiting the office holder to two consecutive terms.
