Although viewed as one of the more low key politicians in the state- in his four plus years as Maryland’s Lt Governor- Boyd Rutherford spent time serving essentially as acting governor for a stretch – and also has headed up the state’s task force on opioids. When Governor Larry Hogan was diagnosed and underwent treatment for cancer early his in first year on the job- Rutherford stepped in and led the state during those months. In addition, after declaring a state of emergency with regards to the opioid epidemic, Hogan picked Rutherford as the man to lead the battle. He tells WCBC News that while he is just getting his feet wet for his second term as lt governor- he has been approached about running for the top spot in 2022….
