For many years the Maryland House 1C seat was a democratic strong hold- culiminating with the position being held by the Speaker of the House Casper Taylor from 1994 to 2003. Since that time, the past 12 years, it has been held by republican Leroy Lyers. With Myer’s opting not to see another term in the house, the feeling in some circles is that its a seat that could be brought back to the democratic party. The race this year pits Republican Mike Mckay against Democrat Nick Scarpelli. Scarpelli says that some polling is being done and the results should be known by the end of the month….
