Scarpelli Makes Delegate Seat Run Official

Local businessman and Cumberland City Council member Nicholas “Nick” Scarpelli has made it official- announcing his plans and filing the necessary paper work to run for the Maryland House of Delegates 1C seat.  The seat is currently held by LeRoy Myers Jr., who has announced he will not seek re-election. Scarpelli, a democrat, actually made public comments late last month regarding his political intentions- but had not yet formally announced or filed.  Scarpelli attended Bishop Walsh High School before getting a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University.  In post-graduate years, Scarpelli received a mortuary science degree from Catonsville Community College and a Masters of Business Administration from Frostburg State University. Developing a realistic economic development strategy has been a priority for the councilman- and he had advocated taking an aggressive approach to attracting jobs to the area…
