School Board Begins Process To Re-Adjust Calender

Having already lost four days in the school year to winter conditions, the Allegany County Board of Education began the process last night to re-adjust the calendar to help offset the lost curriculum time. To date, including Monday’s cancellation, the Allegany County school system has lost a total of four days- and only five days are built in with plenty of winter left ahead. Superintendent Dr David Cox said it’s not as easy as dropping a previously scheduled holiday to replace a snow day- as there are state requirements that have to be met, and the board has to approve any changes…
