Members of the Allegany County Board of Education staff recently dedicated a tree at the Evergreen Heritage Center in honor of Ms. Karen Joan Bundy, who passed away this summer.

Ms. Bundy worked in Allegany County Public Schools for 43 years, beginning as a science teacher, serving as an Assistant Principal in several schools, as Supervisor of several subjects, and finally ending her career as the Executive Director of Secondary Education. She was well-known for her hard work, long hours, and selfless dedication to the teachers, staff, and students of Allegany County.

She was a religious person who worked with many charities and community organizations to serve others. Ms. Bundy was a staunch supporter of environmental education and of the Evergreen Heritage Center. She was a strong, passionate, and quick-witted person that will certainly be missed by those that worked with and admired her through the years.

A red spruce and plaque, which states: "From the littlest seeds grow mighty trees" – Aeschylus are located on the EHC property near the testing well. A small monetary donation was collected and presented to Janice Keene of the EHC in Ms. Bundy's name.
