School Board Member Anticipates Smooth Teacher Contract Negotiations

The 760 teachers making up the membership of the Allegany County Teachers Association have a contract through 2013- however when the time comes for new contract talks, School Board member Mike Llewellyn says he anticipates a smooth process. There is new leadership in place for ACTA since the last round of negotiations- with Deborah Pappas serving as ACTA President and Evan West now in the position of Uniserv Director- a post that had been held by Steve Benson for the past 16 years.  The last contract negotiated saw a significant increase for teachers, and Llewellyn says he believes that will not be forgotten when new talks get underway- with fiscal times being much tighter…
