School Boards Budget For Legal Fees Being Hit Hard By Case Brought By Current Board Member

For the second consecutive month, members of the Allegany County Board of Education made note that the board’s budget for legal fees is being hit hard as a result of a case brought by Lorelee Farrell.  Farrell, a current member of the board, filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the school board, last year prior to her election.  Both she and her husband Robert Farrell were employed by the school system but pursued the legal challenge last year based on their separations from the school system. Farrell, who has been dealing with some health issues, was not in attendance for Tuesday’s session. The subject of the cost of the lawsuit and the impact on the board’s budget was raised by board members Tammy Fraley and Laurie Marchini as finance director Larry McKenzie provided a routine budget update…
