Sen. Cardin Says He Will Approach Impeachment Trial With An Open Mind

December 19th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The House on Wednesday voted to impeach a sitting president for just the third time in American history, with Democrats securing the votes needed to pass two articles of impeachment charging President Donald Trump with abuse of power and obstructing Congress. The articles largely passed on party-line votes, teeing up a Senate trial in January.  U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, a Maryland Democrat and a ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said he takes his role as a juror in an impeachment proceeding very seriously. He emphasized that although he has grave concerns with what the evidence to date has shown in regards to the President’s actions- he will approach the Senate trial next month with an open mind…

      > . . . as he should. Yesterday the ‘dear leader’ publicly suggested that John Dingell the long serving Congressman from Michigan who was decorated for his WW2 service is in Hell because his wife voted to impeach him, after Trump approved lowering flags for him and buried him in Arlington National Cemetery. Both of these honors were honors Dingell earned through his service to his country – something Trump cannot grasp. Lock him up!

All the while the Democrats hold a minority in the Senate which makes this whole dog and pony show a waste of time. The House votes for impeachment and the Senate will end it without upholding the charges.
All of this time and hot air wasted on an inevitable outcome could have been better used to deal with so many more pressing issues facing all Americans.
The only way that Trump will removed from the White House will be through the ballot box.

      > It’s not a waste of time. Holding to the checks and balances written by our forefathers is our duty. Whatever the outcome, Trump needs to be made an example of, to let others like him know that America won’t stand for this type of activity by the Leader of our Nation.

        > Don’t get me wrong, I agree that this misfeasance and malfeasance should be shouted to everyone but the ultimate outcome is a foregone conclusion.
This has become the shiny object that attracts everyone’s attention while other shady actions take place. Examples; attempting to rescind Affordable Care, net neutrality, lowering water usage requirements in appliances, lowering auto full economy requirements, and the list goes on and on.

Yea, I’m sure he will, just like all the Demo-rats in the House voted for the impeachment articles. Anyone with any sense knew exactly how those votes were going to turn out.
