SHA to Shut Down Friendsville Bridge For Repairs

April 18th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

On Monday, April 22, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is temporarily closing and detouring the Maple Street (MD 742) Bridge over the Youghiogheny River in Friendsville for six weeks. The closure is necessary to protect work crews and motorists and expedite the $500,000 project.

Motorists will be guided to MD 42 (Friendsville Road) to First Avenue and back to Maple Street. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Concrete General, Inc. of Rockville, will be performing general concrete repairs to add years of service life to the bridge.

Crews will use construction barrels and detour signs to guide travelers through the work zone. Approximately 1,000 vehicles use this section of Maple Street each day.
