Earlier this week, the city of Cumberland has received an estimate of $4.7 million for rebuilding the bridges on Baltimore and Cumberland streets. Allegany County has pledged $5 million in Federal Bridge Program funding, which is administered through the county. The city must provide 20 percent of the cost of the bridge work to be eligible for the funding. It was a subject discussed briefly during Thursday’s meeting of the commissioners with commissioners’ president Jake Shade suggesting that the estimated cost could actually be higher…
