County dealing with “tight” budget

With plans to flat fund all but one outside agency- and by dipping into the reserve fund for a second consecutive year- the Allegany County Commissioners have essentially eliminated a potential $3.6 million deficit. While the no agencies are receiving cuts- only the Sheriff’s Department is getting additional funding, having been allocated $150,000 for the hire of two additional officers. Commissioners President Jake Shade said program open space dollars which will be ultimately covered by the state- and taking over the Frostburg Emergency Management System last year are the primary reasons for such a tight fiscal picture…
