Shamrock Shuffle leads to multiple arrests

Marijuana Arrest. On Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 12:52 a.m., a Frostburg City Police officer on patrol observed a 2007 Chevrolet sedan being driven more than 40 MPH in a posted 25 MPH zone on East Main Street, and the officer initiated a traffic stop.

 

Officers contacted the driver, identified as Russell Anthony Neverdon, Jr., 21, of Frostburg. While speaking with Neverdon, officers detected an odor of marijuana. Officers searched the vehicle during which they discovered multiple plastic baggies containing a total of approximately 81 grams of suspected marijuana.

 

Neverdon was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. Neverdon was charged with possession of over 10 grams of marijuana and was issued a traffic citation for the initial speeding violation. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner and released pending trial.

 

False Identity Arrest. On Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 7:43 p.m., a Frostburg City Police officer on foot patrol on East Main Street observed a male subject identified as Matthew Lee Thomas, 20, of Severna Park, to be urinating on the front of a business. The officer contacted him, and instructed him to provide his identification. Thomas provided a Maryland driver’s license, and the officer began writing a citation. While writing the citation, the officer detected that Thomas was not the person shown in the driver’s license photograph. Upon further questioning, Thomas admitted that he had provided someone else’s identification, and he then produced his real driver’s license. Thomas was placed under arrest, charged with displaying a license not issued to him, public urination, and underage drinking. He was issued citations and released.

 

Domestic Assault Arrest. On Sunday, March 25, 2018, at 11:31 p.m., Frostburg City Police officers were called to an East College Avenue residence for a 911 call regarding a reported domestic assault. Officers made contact with the reported female victim. She reported that her boyfriend, Joseph James Rogers, 33, of Frostburg, had physically assaulted her. She stated that she and Rogers had engaged in an argument, during which they began wrestling on the floor. She alleged that Rogers then struck her in the face with a wooden object, and attempted to choke her out. Officers observed injuries consistent with the allegation and placed Rogers under arrest. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. Rogers was transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with second degree assault. Rogers was transported to a District Court Commissioner and released pending trial.

 

Warrant Arrest. On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 9:25 a.m., Frostburg City Police officers responded to a Bishop Murphy Drive residence to serve an arrest warrant for failure to appear in court, after receiving a tip that the wanted person, Joshua Samuel Morales, 18, of Frostburg, was there. Officers knocked on the door, and, as it was answered by an occupant, Morales fled out of the residence through a window and ran into the nearby wooded area. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit but lost sight of Morales. A search of the area was conducted, but Morales was not immediately located. Later that day, officers returned to the residence, located Morales, and placed him under arrest. Morales was served the failure to appear warrant and also charged with resisting/interfering with arrest.
