On February 1st, 2017 at approximately 9;30 PM Deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to assist Piedmont City Police with a wanted person that had fled across the state line and was believed to be hiding in a residence in Westernport.
Deputies arrived at a residence on Front Street in Westernport and observed the wanted person in the residence. After being notified that the person in the residence was wanted, the homeowner refused to allow law enforcement into the residence and continued to obstruct deputies as the wanted suspect attempted to flee by jumping from a roof.
Subsequently, 22 year old Anthony Wayne Amoruso of Piedmont, WV was arrested and charged as a fugitive on the strength of a Mineral County arrest warrant.
The resident, 47 year old Joseph David Dolly Sr. of Westernport, was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and hindering.
Amoruso was ordered held at the Allegany County Detention without bond, pending extradition to WV.
Dolly was released on personal recognizance.
