Sheriff’s Department Responds to Armed Robbery in McCoole

On Friday morning at 1:06 a.m., deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the Best Price Market located at 21413 Chesapeake Ave, McCoole, Allegany County, Maryland in reference to an armed robbery.

While enroute to the scene deputies were advised by the Allegany County 911 Center that a white male wearing dark clothing and bandanas covering his face entered the store displayed a knife and removed an unknown amount of United States Currency from the cash register. Allegany County 911 further advised that the suspect fled the store on foot toward an adjacent liquor store and possibly got into a vehicle and fled north on McMullen Highway.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies secured the crime scene and confirmed that no one in the store was injured during the incident. Deputies with assistance from the Maryland State Police then searched the area for the suspect with negative results Deputies then requested the assistance of the C3I Unit. Upon the arrival of detectives with C3I witness interviews were conducted and the scene was processed.

The incident remains under investigation by C3I and the Allegany County Sheriff's Office.

Troopers from the Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack also assisted at the scene.
