Sheriff’s Office & Health Dept Working To Spread Awareness Of Heroin Epidemic

The first in a series of town hall style meetings designed to educate the public on the growing heroin and prescription drug problems in the county proved a tremendous success. The Allegany County Sheriff's office has partnered with the local health department to help spread awareness of the heroin epidemic in the region- with the first meeting held at the end of January at the Midland Fire Hall.  In just the first month and a half of 2016, eight people have died in Allegany County from opioid and heroin related overdoses. A screening of the documentary "Behind the Orange Curtain" will highlight the public sessions.
