Governor Larry Hogan and Comptroller Franchot have been traveling the state the past two weeks promoting “Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week”. During Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week, which began Sunday, August 14 and runs through Saturday, August 20, qualifying clothing and footwear priced $100 or less will be exempt from Maryland’s 6 percent sales tax. The annual event is coordinated each year to take place just before the start of the new school year to provide a some relief for parents.
