Smart Choice Wins Western Maryland Works Bid

January 27th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

At the December 12, 2019 Public Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County, the Western Maryland Works Bid Award was approved. The Board of County Commissioners authorized the Office of Community Services to award the purchase of equipment in support of the Western Maryland Works project to Smart Choice Computer Solutions. The funding for these purchases is provided by a grant through the Appalachian Regional Commission.

Smart Choice President Wayne Snyder expressed optimism about the project. “Smart Choice has been a proud part of this community for over 25 years. We are excited about the Makerspace project and about the plan to continue to develop local talent. The project makes winning this bid even more of a proud moment for us”.

Western Maryland Works is still in renovation/construction phase at 37 Lane Avenue, Lavale, but we are getting closer to a grand opening of Western Maryland Works: Allegany County's Makerspace and Workforce Development Center. This facility is a product of the strong on-going partnership between Allegany County Government and Allegany College of Maryland to create a pipeline of talent that can meet the needs of today's employers and tomorrow's jobs.

Smart Choice Computer Solutions is located in Lavale and provides expert IT support to local business, government and residential customers.

It is great that Allegany County bought local for this project. Reinvesting in the community is what every business should try to do on as many occasions as possible.
