On Saturday at 2:21 PM, Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack received a call for a motor vehicle collision in front of 24235 Raven Rock Road in Smithsburg, MD.

The on scene investigation revealed that the 1996 GMC Sierra, operated by 58 year old Ricky Wolfe, was on the southbound shoulder facing north (checking the mailbox across from the driveway). The 2012 Chevy operated by 52 year old Sandra Cool was traveling southbound on Raven Rock Road.  While attempting to cross the roadway into the driveway, the Wolfe GMC entered the roadway into the path of the southbound Chevy.  The Chevy struck the GMC, causing Wolfe’s ejection through the driver’s side window.

Wolfe was taken to Meritus Medical Center with serious injuries.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision (Wolfe).

The roadway was opened at approximately 1637 P.M.  The incident is still under investigation.
