Special Investigative Unit Makes Arrests

In early 2015 the Special Investigative Unit of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and the C3I Narcotics Task Force began a joint investigation concerning the distribution of crack in Allegany County. The investigation revealed that individuals from the Baltimore area were traveling to and residing in the Lonaconing, Maryland area for the purpose of selling crack cocaine in the Georges Creek area of Allegany County, Maryland. As a result, on 11/5/15, at approximately 0135 hours, Cumberland Police CERT (SWAT) made entry into 11 and 13 Florida Way Lonaconing, Maryland.

Once inside of the residence, a complete search of the residence revealed a quantity of crack cocaine and Cash. Two suspects were arrested at this time and charged with the following charges. #1-Larry Maurice Derr Jr. 34 years old 2418 Presbury Street Baltimore, Maryland 21216 Charges: Possession with intent to distribute Crack cocaine, Possession of cocaine, obstructing and hindering. Held on $45,000 bail. #2-Michael Eugene Johnson 26 years old 2608 E Monument St Baltimore, Md 21216 Johnson was arrested and transported the Western Maryland Division of Corrections on a Parole violation retake warrant. He will be pending charges in Allegany County.

The C3I narcotics Unit and Sheriffs office investigation unit were assisted by the Cumberland CERT team.
