Speculation Regarding Today’s School Board Meeting Continues

December 21st, 2018 by WCBC Radio

At a time when “transparency” has become a buzz word for those serving in elected office- no information is being made available about the special meeting of the Allegany County Board of Education scheduled for late Friday afternoon, just ahead of the holiday weekend.  The agenda sent to the media simply reads that the board will consider a resolution. Speculation on the focus of the meeting, which will presumably be the last for the current board, centers on a letter, or letters of censure that have been issued against board member Wayne Foote.  Earlier this week, school board vice president Tammy Fraley was asked by WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” to discuss the purpose of the session…

Adding credence to the speculation that Wayne Foote and allegations of inappropriate behavior are infact the subject(s) of the meeting- he has asked his attorney George McKinley to attend. McKinley  said this appears to be nothing more than a continuation of an anti Foote campaign being generated by certain members of the board, even though he believes the voters clearly made their feelings on the accusations known durng the November election…

Actually the voters did not have a clue about the allegations about Mr. Foote, they have never been clearly, explicitly explained. Given our long colorful history of voting against our own interests, I’m not sure it would have made a difference in the vote, but it was never clear exactly what the allegations were.
