State reports COVID-19 related death in Allegany County; Allegany County agencies cannot confirm

April 15th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Department of Health’s website now lists one death as the result of COVID-19 in Allegany County- however spokespersons from the Allegany County Health Department, UPMC Western Maryland and Allegany County Emergency Services tell WCBC News they do not have confirmation of a local death. The state updates county COVID-19 information on a daily basis- although the numbers don’t always match the local data provided. While the state shows Allegany County with 17 reported cases, the county agencies are reporting that number at 20.  ACHD Public Information Coordinator Brenda Caldwell and Todd Bowman with Emergency Services told WCBC News they had no information pertaining to a COVID-19 related death in the county. A spokesman for the health system also had no information.
