State School Superintendent Retirement Begins Tomorrow

Today marks the final day on the job for Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Karen Salmon. Salmon is retiring after four years heading the state’s public school system.  Clearly her biggest challenge came in the past year as the system maneuvered through the COVID-19 pandemic with most schools shutting down for months at a time- leaving a hybrid mix of distance learning and in person instruction. In an interview with WBAL, Salmon said that getting the children fed and providing learning opportunities during the pandemic is something she is most proud of.
