On Saturday, August 02, 2014 the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Michael Shawn Hite, age 31, of Cumberland, MD. The summons stems from a theft investigation which was reported to the Police Department on April 05, 2014. On that date the officer responded to a residence located in the 100 block of Arch Street and met with the female victim who stated that her cell phone was stolen. The officer initiated an investigation and developed Michael Hite as a suspect. Several follow-ups were conducted which lead to Hite being charged with stealing the cell phone. Hite was served with the summons and released pending further action at District Court on a later date.
