On Thursday, 03/23/2017, Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) arrested 22 year old Reddy Chidi Rockefeller, of Washington, D.C., after a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
The charges stem from allegations that Rockefeller had engaged in inappropriate sexual acts with an underage female victim. On 01/27/2017 Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center after being notified that a 15 year old female victim was reporting that she had been sexually assaulted.
Deputies interviewed the victim at that time. The C3I Unit was contacted to assist in the investigation. Investigators learned that the victim had just met the suspect the night of the incident, but did not know his identity.
Investigators were able to track the victim's whereabouts from the night the incident occurred, and through the review of video surveillance from a local business, were able to positively identify Rockefeller. As a result, Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Rockefeller, charging him with 2nd Degree Rape and 3rd Degree Sex Offense.
He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance and is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center without bond, pending his next court appearance. The investigation is continuing by C3I.
