December 2nd, 2014 by WCBC Radio

A Frostburg school teacher will stand trial in March after pleading not guilty to a sex offense charge Tuesday in Allegany County Circuit Court. The case involves a former Mountain Ridge High student who was 15 years old at the time of the alleged offense in March 2013. The Cumberland Times News reports that 42 year-old Bart Mazer appeared before Judge W. Timothy Finan, who granted Mazer’s request for a jury trial after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of third-degree sex offense in a grand jury indictment. The trial is scheduled for March 5. Mazer was suspended without pay by the Allegany County Board of Education after he was charged Sept. 5 with two counts of fourth-degree sex offense that allegedly involved a 17-year-old female student during October and November 2013. Mazer is represented by attorney R. Steven Friend. The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Jacqueline R Brandlen.
